In the heart of the Cannaregio neighborhood, the Hotel Amadeus is only a few steps away from authentic gems of Venetian art and history, starting from Palazzo Labia, today offices of the RAI (Italy's public broadcasting network), that houses a splendid cycle of frescoes by Tiepolo, the greatest Italian painter of the 18th century.
The next stop is Ca' Vendramin Calergi, only five minutes from the hotel. An exemplar of 16th century civil architecture and home of the Venice Casino, Ca' Calergi was once the dwelling of Richard Wagner, the great German composer.
Five minutes on foot from the Hotel Amadeus will also bring you to the Jewish Ghetto of Venice. Established in 1516, the ghetto is fascinating and evocative to this day. Around the Campo del Ghetto Nuovo you will find a completely preserved, unique architectural and urban setting, from the tall buildings designed with low ceilings for as many lodgings possible; to the five "Scolas", or Synagogues, built between the 16th and 17th centuries and recognizable by the cupola; to the compelling Jewish Museum.
A picturesque and colorful walking itinerary takes you from the Hotel Amadeus to Rialto in fifteen minutes. Along the Rio Terà San Leonardo and the Strada Nuova local market stalls, artisan shops and stores of every type to the delight of shopping lovers, bacari (typical Venetian taverns), and pastry shops form a steady stream on a pleasant route past picturesque views and genuine works of art such as Ca' d'Oro, the once gold-plated and still splendid Gothic palace holding the distinguished Galleria Franchetti and its masterpieces by Titian and Mantegna.

By plane
From the Venice Marco Polo Airport (9 mi.)
Reach Hotel Amadeus with the Alilaguna motorboats (Orange line) that depart every hour from the air terminal. In 60 minutes you will arrive at the "Guglie" stop, cross the Ponte delle Guglie, leave Campo San Geremia to your left and a little ways ahead in Lista di Spagna, to the right, you will see Hotel Amadeus. Or you can reach Hotel Amadeus in 45 minutes with a shuttle bus for Venice - Piazzale Roma (car terminal). From there take the ACTV steamboat (line 1 or 82) - if you're travelling on foot pass the Ponte della Costituzione (Calatrava) - until you reach the train stop (Ferrovia). Leave Ponte degli Scalzi to your right and take Lista di Spagna. After about 200 metres, to your left, you will find Hotel Amadeus.
From the Treviso San Giuseppe Airport (19 mi.)
Take a Eurobus ATVO shuttle to Venezia - Piazzale Roma (the car terminal) and follow above directions.
By train
The Hotel Amadeus is five minutes on foot from the Santa Lucia Station. Exit the station and turn left, entering the street Lista di Spagna. Hotel Amadeus is about 200 yards ahead on the left.
By car
From the highway, after the toll plaza take the beltway ("tangenziale") and follow directions for Venice until you reach Piazzale Roma (the car terminal). Leave your car at Garage San Marco (discounted for Hotel Amadeus guests) or in one of the other parking lots in Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto (on the right before reaching Venice). Take ACTV vaporetto line 1 or 82 (from Tronchetto change at Piazzale Roma) and get off at the train station. On foot, head to your right and enter the street Lista di Spagna. Hotel Amadeus is about 200 yards ahead on the left.
